Travel

Air transportation

Minneapolis is served by the MSP airport, one of the busiest airports in the U.S. and a main hub for Delta airlines. MSP has more than 100 direct connections, including a number of international destinations.

More details can be found at https://www.mspairport.com/

From the airport to the city

There are a variety of options to go from the airport to the city. Conference attendees can take a taxi ($30-$40) or a Lyft/Uber ($20-30). The driving time from the airport to either Downtown Minneapolis or to the conference venue is around 20 minutes. An alternative that is worth considering is the light rail system ($2-$2.50), which provides an easy access to downtown Minneapolis (20 mins, no transfer) as well as to the conference venue (30 mins, one transfer). The light rail station for the conference venue is “East Bank Sation” Green Line.

Transportation within the city

While renting a car is certainly a possibility (especially for people who want to stay a few more days and visit nearby places), people attending the conference and staying either in the downtown area or close to the university campus will not need to rent a car. The public transportation is dense and affordable (https://www.metrotransit.org/), car sharing companies like Lyft and Uber provide service to all the Twin-Cities area, and the city has multiple systems of bike-sharing (https://www.niceridemn.com/) and electric scooter-sharing (Lime and Bird) that simplify mobility. Maybe you do not know it, but Minneapolis is one of the more bike-friendly cities in the U.S. and it is full of bike trails, so, if you have the time, biking around the lakes and parks within the city is an enjoyable plan.

Visa for entering the United States

Most citizens of Canada as well as citizens of ESTA countries are likely not to require a VISA to enter the U.S. Most citizens from other countries will require an entry visa for the U.S. After registering for the conference, invitation letters that can be used during the application procedure will be provided to the conference attendees under request. For more accurate information regarding visas and/or passports, please visit the Bureau of Consular Affairs or the US Consulate in your country, and the U.S. Department of State’s website.

Non-US Residents planning to attend the conference

To obtain a letter for visa purposes, you must first register for the conference and pay in full. Then please make your request for a visa letter using an online form that will be activated once the registration is open.

Confirmation of registration letter

You will have access to a more customized registration letter (to include your name and paper information, etc.) once your paper has been accepted and you have paid the registration fee.

Travel Visa

Do not delay in making Visa arrangements for entry into the United States if needed. Such arrangements are the responsibility of attendees and participants and may take several weeks.

How to obtain a Visa

Complete information on how to apply for a VISA to enter the US can be found on the U.S. Department of State’s website on visas.
